Our Principal

Dr. Qualyn McIntyre, Principal 

 

Dr. Qualyn McIntyre brings over 20 years of experience in education to her new role as Principal of F.L. Stanton Elementary School. She is deeply committed to the belief that children are our greatest resource and that quality education is key to their future success. Dr. McIntyre is passionate about fostering environments where educators are empowered, developed, and supported, ensuring that they have the tools they need to provide meaningful and impactful learning experiences for every student.

Prior to joining F.L. Stanton, Dr. McIntyre served as the Assistant Principal at J.W. Dobbs Elementary School, a role she held since the 2019-2020 school year. Her experience also includes a unique blend of leadership in both the school and university settings. Before becoming an assistant principal, she was the Teacher Development Program Manager with Atlanta Public Schools and served as the CREST-Ed and Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship District Coordinator at Georgia State University. In these roles, Dr. McIntyre led several initiatives aimed at strengthening teacher preparation and leadership programs, shaping the future of education in meaningful ways.

Dr. McIntyre's teaching career began in Texas and Georgia, where she worked as an elementary school teacher. Her contributions to the field of education have earned her numerous accolades, including recognition for her work in teacher development. Additionally, she has served on the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s Education Review Panel and contributed to multiple task forces focused on creating robust standards for teacher preparation and endorsement programs.

Dr. McIntyre holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University, an M.Ed. from Cambridge University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University. Her academic journey reflects her personal commitment to lifelong learning—a value she instills in the teachers and leaders she works with. Outside of her professional life, Dr. McIntyre has been happily married to Tarryl McIntyre for over 20 years, and together they have three daughters: Taylor, TaMya, and Taryn. As she steps into her new role at F.L. Stanton, Dr. McIntyre is excited to lead the school toward new heights of academic excellence and community engagement.
